Top Material & Finish
Every table starts with a choice of three ply types for the top. Each comes with its own finish — not a separate decision to make.

Birch
Crisp and pale, sealed with a dead flat Polyvine varnish.

Poplar
Creamy and warm-toned, sealed with the same dead flat Polyvine varnish as birch.

Meranti
Rich and reddish-brown, finished with an Osmo oil rather than varnish — a Matt finish that brings out the depth of the colour.
Leg & Frame Finish

Painted Legs
You can choose any shade or brand you like. Our own recommendation is Little Greene — we use their Intelligent Matt Emulsion, which goes on without a separate primer, wipes clean with warm soapy water, and copes with the kind of everyday contact a dining table's legs actually get: chairs pulled in and out, feet resting against them, the odd knock. It's certified child-safe too.
We also use Farrow & Ball regularly. Whatever you choose, so long as we can source it, we'll use it on your legs and frame.

Stainless steel legs
The standard finish is to brush the stainless steel. Polished, powder coated, and spray painted finishes are available on request — please get in touch to discuss what's possible and the colour options.

Legs and frames made in ply
The same ply and finish you choose for the top runs through the legs and frame too — see Top Material & Finish above.
Living With the Finish
Birch and Poplar are sealed with Polyvine Interior Extreme Varnish, a tough, water-based polyurethane. A spilled glass of wine, a hot dish set down without thinking, a splash of something stronger during a proper clean — none of it should trouble this finish, and it won't fade even in a bright room. Polyvine's own spec names tabletops directly as one of the surfaces it's built for.
Meranti is finished with Osmo Top Oil — the same product used on wooden kitchen worktops, chosen for exactly that reason. It's food-safe, water-resistant, and stands up to what a dining table actually has to survive: wine, tea, coffee, fruit juice. Spills bead on the surface rather than soaking in, and it wipes clean with a cloth. If it ever needs refreshing, that can be done without a full sand-down.
