Frequently Asked Questions
Before You Order
Can I have any colour?
For painted wood legs — yes, any shade or brand you like. Our own recommendation is Little Greene, and we also use Farrow & Ball regularly. Whatever you choose, so long as we can source it, we'll use it.
For metal legs — brushed stainless is standard, but polished, powder coated or spray painted finishes are all possible. We'll need to talk through exactly what you want before confirming what's available.
Full detail on materials and finishes is on our Colours & Finishes page.
Can I get a sample of the material or finish before I commit?
Yes — we're happy to send sample pieces of all three materials. Just let us know and we'll send them out.
Can you help me work out the right size for my room?
Yes — take a look at our guide to choosing your table size, or get in touch and we'll talk it through together.
Can I see examples of tables you've made before?
Yes — you can browse our full range to see finished examples, and we're always happy to share more from past projects if you get in touch.
Placing Your Order
What does the process actually involve?
For Bespoke tables, you choose your starting design, then we agree the finer details together — material, colour, finish, anything else — by phone, message or email, whichever suits you.
For Fully Bespoke projects, we start with a design conversation and work up the whole table from a blank sheet, rather than an existing design.
Either way, nothing is made until you've approved a pro-forma covering every detail.
Do you take a deposit, and how does payment work?
We take full payment upfront, since every table is bespoke and made uniquely for you.
Can I return or exchange the table if I'm not happy with it?
Because every table is made specifically for you, we don't offer standard returns or exchanges. We never start building until we're both entirely happy that every detail's been agreed — and our own tables have never had a problem because of it. If there's ever something you're not happy with, we'll always do what we can to put it right. And if anything ever turned out to be down to faulty workmanship on our part, we'd remedy it — again, something that's never happened with a table we've made.
Made & Delivered
How long will it take?
For Bespoke tables, most take 8–10 weeks, start to finish. Fully Bespoke projects vary more, since every one starts from a blank sheet — 10–12 weeks is typical. We'll confirm a more specific estimate once your project's agreed.
How does delivery work?
Every table's delivered according to its own needs — size and weight are a big part of that, so is location. We'll talk it through with you individually once your table's ready, and agree the best solution together.
What happens if the table's damaged in delivery?
It's rare — we pack every table carefully, and use exceptionally good couriers. But if anything ever did happen in transit, we'd remedy it.
Enjoying Your Table
Is the surface resilient, waterproof and heatproof?
Birch and Poplar tops are sealed with Polyvine Interior Extreme Varnish, which resists heat, stains and household chemicals, and won't yellow even in a bright room. Meranti is finished with Osmo Top Oil — the same product used on wooden kitchen worktops. Even the glue holding the table together is FDA-approved for food contact and passes the strictest waterproof rating in its category. Full detail is on our Colours & Finishes page.
How do I look after it day to day?
Both finishes are easy to live with — wipe clean with a cloth, and spills tend to bead on the surface rather than soak in. If a finish ever needs refreshing, that's straightforward too.
Is there a guarantee if something's wrong with it?
Yes — if anything ever turns out to be down to faulty workmanship on our part, we'll remedy it.
